Gilead Compass Initiative® is an initiative by Gilead Sciences, Inc. they help organizations that work for helping people in the southern US suffering from HIV. They provide Gilead HIV meds to the people diagnosed with HIV. The word COMPASS stands for Commitment to Partnership in Addressing HIV/AIDS in Southern States. They have done the commitment to providing $100 million to the organizations in the next 10 years.

HIV Gilead Compass Initiative® has started programs with four coordinating centers

  • Wake Forest School of Divinity
  • The Southern AIDS Coalition
  • University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work
  • Emory University Rollins School of Public Health

They help in implementing HIV-related programs, in which they educated people about HIV, reduce HIV stigma, and also provide funding to the organizations who are working for this cause in the southern USA. They focus on certain primary areas like:

  • Reducing Stigma: They know how important it is to reduce HIV stigma, and they focus on doing programs and spread awareness about reducing stigma. Click here to know more about reducing HIV stigma.
  • Mental Health: A person suffering from HIV has to face a lot of problems aside from being diagnosed with this disease; they face discrimination, HIV stigma, denial of treatment, and a lot of other things. This disturbs their mental health and their overall condition.
