Gilead COMPASS Initiative®: Finest Corporate Funding Program for Combating HIV Stigma

Running a non-profit organization that works to combat the stigma associated with HIV can be a difficult task. Another effect of social stigma associated with HIV is the exclusion of affected people and families in the community. One such corporate funding program, namely, Gilead COMPASS Initiative® is offered by Gilead Sciences, Inc. to combat the stigma associated with this disease. The 
Gilead HIV program specifically includes monetary support to non-profit organizations and individuals who want to actively become a part of this fight. 

Gilead COMPASS Initiative® is a 10-year, $100 million commitment of the company that is aimed at addressing the effect of HIV/AIDS in African American families in Southern USA. The main aim of this initiative is to create awareness, provide education, reduce stigma, and HIV health-related disparities. For this initiative to work efficiently, they have set up three COMPASS coordinating centers in Emory University Rollins School of Public Health, University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, and the Southern AIDS Coalition. Through these coordinating centers, Gilead COMPASS Initiative® wants to provide information about Gilead HIV treatment plan, capacity building, shared knowledge, stigma reduction, and overall well-being, mental health, substance use, and trauma-informed care. 

But that’s not it! As mentioned above it is one of the largest corporate funding programs that give grants tonon-profit organizations that works to fight the stigma associated with the diseases. Currently, the initiative is offering four types of grants to organizations namely, Core grants, SPARK! Grants, transformative grants, and ACTION grants. 

Lastly, Gilead COMPASS Initiative® also intends to provide training to individuals and organizations to better equip them with tools and opportunities. Whether it is about Gilead HIV meds, culturally responsive care, mental health assistance, Gilead COMPASS Initiative® wants to provide the best resources.
